Dental Hygienist Duties include removing plaque from and polishing a patient's teeth during a routine checkup, screening patients, reviewing a patient's oral health history and teaching appropriate brushing and flossing techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Uses dental instruments to check and clean gums.
• Feels lymph nodes to detect swelling or tenderness associated with dental disease.
• Examine gums for sores or disease using probes and other dental instruments.
• Fluoride and other cavity protectors are applied.
• Charts and records of disease for diagnosis and treatment.
• Takes and develops X-rays.
• Administers local anesthetics, as directed.
• Provides patients with proper instruction for treatment of disease.
• Forms and molds cast impressions.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree
• 1-2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
